What to wear if you're going to the Salar de Uyuni

What clothing should I bring for a trip?

You should bring layers of clothing to handle the wide range of temperatures. During the day, it can be warm, so light clothing is advisable. At night, temperatures can drop significantly, so you'll need warm clothes such as a fleece, thermal underwear, a down jacket, gloves, and a hat. Waterproof clothing is also recommended during the rainy season.

What kind of footwear is best for Bolivia?

Comfortable and sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots are essential for exploring the salt flats and other rugged terrains. Waterproof shoes are recommended if you visit during the wet season when the salt flats are covered with a thin layer of water. Also a slipper is a good option.

What should I know about local customs and etiquette?

Leave no trace and avoid damaging the landscape. Interactions with locals: Be polite and respectful. Learning a few basic Spanish phrases can be very helpful. Tipping: It's customary to tip your tour guides and drivers, usually around 10%.
