Itinerary
Day 1
Day 2
Day 3
We begin at 10:30 with a visit to the Train Cemetery, exploring remnants of Bolivia's historic railway system. We then stop in Colchani, a local town where we learn about salt production and visit artisan shops. Entering the vast Salt Flats, we witness the unique "Eyes of Salt" aquifers before heading to Flags Square and the famous Dakar Monument. After lunch at the Salt Hotel, we take stunning panoramic and perspective photos, including the famous mirror reflection (seasonal). In the afternoon, we visit Incahuasi Island, home to giant cacti and fossilized corals, with views of Tunupa Volcano. The day ends with a breathtaking sunset over the salt flats, followed by an overnight stay at a salt hostel.
On Day 2, starting at 06:30, we travel to San Juan, a small village where guests can buy snacks and use facilities. From there, we drive towards the desert, with a view of the still-active Ollagüe Volcano, considered sacred by local communities. Next, we visit the Andean lagoons—Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarcota, and Honda—where we enjoy lunch near Laguna Hedionda and photograph flamingos, ducks, and seagulls. In the afternoon, we enter the Siloli Desert, home to the iconic Stone Tree. Continuing through Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve, we conclude the day at the Red Lagoon, observing vibrant pink flamingos before resting at shared basic accommodation in Huayllajara.
On Day 3, starting early at 04:30, we visit the Sol de Mañana Geysers, where jets of steam rise into the air, followed by a relaxing dip in the Polkes Hot Springs. Next, we explore the surreal Dali Desert, resembling Salvador Dalí's iconic paintings, and stop by the stunning Green Lagoon at the foot of Licancabur Volcano, a natural border with Chile, where some travelers depart. On the return journey to Uyuni, we stop for lunch before visiting the Valley of the Rocks, known for its unique formations. Our final stop is San Cristobal Village, home to a XVI-century church, arriving back in Uyuni around 17:30.
